At A1 Complete Builders, our Miscellaneous Work service covers those essential odd jobs, one-off repairs and specialist tasks that don’t always fall into standard categories — but still make a big difference to your property’s appearance, safety and longevity. Jubilee Car Park - Disabled Toilets Block

We were instructed by RTP  Surveyors on behalf of  Wadebridge Town Council to construct and install a disabled welfare unit/toilet facilities for public use.

Damp/Mouldy Walls

A1 Complete Builders have been recommended by Mr Phil Northey of Tecbuild to undertake some remedial works to a damp property.

Surface condensation is by far the most frequently encountered form of dampness in buildings and generally it is the most easily recognised with visual signs of mould grown in the main living room and solid walls construction. The temperature at which air can no longer hold excess water vapour is know as the Dew Point, surface condensation is thus formed when moist laden air comes into contact with cold surfaces which then becomes cooled. If cooled far enough it reaches the dew point temperature and the water vapour is released as condensation and associated black mould growth. Therefore, remedial works will have to be carried out IWI Insulation on living room walls (Isotherm or Marmox Board) and re-skim plus decoration on Anti-mould emulsion, installation of a Positive Input Ventilation (PVP) into the existing loft space and the use of Dryseal Water Repellence on existing stone/render from wall externally.

  • Prepare walls ready to install 1.W.1 Wykamo Thermal Internal Eco System
  • Wash all affected walls with a Wykamo Mould Removal Eradication Kit
  • Mix and lay on walls a Iso-Therm Bond Adhesive. Once cut to size lay on the thin internal insulation and damp control (TWI) system ready to skim plaster over

Result is NO MORE BLACK MOULD!

Concrete Repairs

Concrete Repairs for Cornish Concrete Unit with Corrosion

We have been recommended by Phil at TecBuild to make repairs to a property in Porthleven. Corrosion has been found we cut out the concrete surrounding the steel, clean and treat with a Mapefer Primer followed by laying in Maper Grout Thixotropic Building out coats and finally finish repair using Mapei Planitop 200 ready to price and paint.

Stable conversion & new garage

A1 complete builders have been instructed by our existing client to undertake the conversion of their existing stable to office space and build an adjoining large double garage, excavating through solid granite and moving around 800 tons of soil/sub base and granite to enable works in 2023

Chimney Replastering, 2023

A1 Complete Builders were instructed to replaster a chimney in Carbis Bay

Composite Cladding

Clients have instructed A1 complete builders to remove old pebble dash render and fix composite cladding to first flood elevation and re-render ground floor.

New Garage - April 2019

Construction of new garage base and structure.

Double Garage and Driveway - July 2018

Our clients instructed us to construct a new driveway and build a double garage and log store. The floor is block and beam construction. Supply and fit an Oak Frame to base.

Bathroom Re-tiling Work - 2018

We undertake a variety of small building jobs such as this small bathroom which needed extensive retiling and electrical refurbishment.

Dolphin Rise - 2015

A1 Complete Builders have been instructed to undertake extensive external works to an existing clients property in Mousehole. Our Clients parking area is showing signs of slippage and moving.

J.L.A Engineering consultants have designed 3 concrete retaining walls with steel mesh and bars built in to cavities with concrete c35 infill. Around 300 tons of top soil/concrete must be removed in small loads as access is difficult and around 250 tons to be bought back in mainly 805 permeable stone, 60 tons of concrete and some 3,500 concrete blocks.

Once all walls are built and new ramp formed the area will be blocked paved over.

Chimney Rebuild - Manor House

A1 Complete Builders have recently undertaken various Restoration works to a 300 year old Manor House Nr Ponsanooth, once used as a School and in the War used as a Hospital, This Beautiful Georgian building has many original features and has retained its character throughout.

The current owners are the Fifth Generation of the same family and are very keen to Restore and preserve this building using Plaster Lath and Lime to internal walls and ceiling in various rooms along with external works also underway using St – Astier N.H.L. Lime.

Our first Instruction was the Demolition of an original Chimney, Although the top half had been rebuilt some years ago but the base had severe Fatigue and the Bricks was crumbling and delaminating caused by the Age of the bricks but also Water Penetration in Freezing conditions will also break down the bricks causing them to fail and the danger was this Chimney would of toppled over one day in the very near future.

We have been Instructed to Reline and repair the  Flues also open up any blocked off.

A1 will rebuild with a clay hand made brick laid with N.H.L St – Astier Lime mix.

Garden Walling Work

We undertake all aspects of garden walling work from minor repairs (ie: traffic accidents) to full scale removal and rebuilds. We can work in a variety of materials from block or brick to cornish stone.

Floor Tiling & External Paving Work

Chimney Rebuild - 2013

A1 removed both chimneys as both had serious fatigue and was delaminating, this problem occurs normally in frosty conditions when bricks are wet and the water content in the bricks freeze causing them to delaminate.

Both Chimneys was rebuilt with an engineering brick and new lead trays made in code 5, dressed and fitted.

Decking - 2012

A1 Complete builders undertook the replacement of old decking and a complete renewal of douglas fir softwood decking complete with ballustrading.
